Terms of use
Last updated October 23, 2026
These terms cover your use of Tickmarks, operated by Alton Henley. By joining a class or signing in, you agree to them.
Who can use Tickmarks
Tickmarks is an educational game for forensic accounting courses. Students join through a class code from their instructor. Instructor accounts are set up by Tickmarks administrators. You must give your real name and an email address you control.
Your account
You sign in with one-time links sent to your email. Keep access to that inbox secure, and don't share sign-in links or let anyone else use your account. Tell us at admin@playtickmarks.com if you think someone else has signed in as you.
Fair play
You agree not to:
- try to get answer keys, other students' work, or records you haven't legitimately requested;
- probe, scan, or test the security of the service, or get around its limits, such as sign-in limits or the hours budget;
- disrupt or overload the service, or scrape or bulk-download it with bots or scripts (screen readers and other assistive technology are always welcome);
- copy, share, or publish case materials or answers outside your course.
Academic integrity rules, such as whether you can work with classmates, are set by your instructor and school.
Case content is fictional
Every company, person, transaction, and document in a Tickmarks case is invented for teaching. Any resemblance to real people or organizations is coincidental. Nothing in Tickmarks is accounting, legal, or investigative advice.
Ownership
Tickmarks, including its cases, documents, questions, software, and design, is owned by Alton Henley and protected by copyright. We give you permission to use it for the courses you're enrolled in or teach. That permission ends when your access ends.
Your requests and answers remain yours. You let us store and process them to run the service, show them to your instructor, and improve Tickmarks, as described in our privacy policy.
Scores and availability
Tickmarks is provided “as is.” We work to keep it running and scoring correctly, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Your instructor decides how Tickmarks scores count toward your grade.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Alton Henley isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of Tickmarks, including lost data or grades affected by an outage or error.
Suspension and closing accounts
We may suspend or remove access for anyone who breaks these terms. You can ask us to delete your account at any time. See the privacy policy for what that removes.
Changes
We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Tickmarks after a change means you accept the updated terms.
